A Day in the Garden with Area 1 |
It was a very, very busy day for Area1. We started in the garden where we looked at the punnets of seedlings we were going to plant in our “Mr. Mc.Gregor’s garden”. We looked at baby carrots and how small they were and we were worried that the hot sun would shrivel them up. We had some bean seedlings too, not the French beans that Peter Rabbit ate, ours are runner beans. Red veges were in, with lettuce with lovely red edges on the leaves and we also had some red onions, which the children know are good for using in salads. Click Here to view our pictures |

What's happening in the Kitchen Garden? |

Area 2 continued with "The Tales of Peter Rabbit" and his adventures in Mr. MacGregor’s garden. This week the lucky students were cooking foods using yummy fruit and vegetables that Peter would have tried as he ate in Mr. MacGregor’s garden.
Three lovely mothers volunteered to come in and Ms. Punch and Ms. Kee also helped out. One group cooked a Purple Porridge using different types of berries and honey. Some students ate so much we were worried they would end up with a tummy-ache just like Peter did in the story. |

In bringing the community together, your child has has been given the opportunity to participate in a series of engaging incursions linked to our fruit and veg project.
FLUTE 'N' VEGThis was a fantastic performance where common garden vegetables were turned into musical instruments. Garden carrots were tuned and then played to make incredible harmonies. The talents of the performers were exceptional and we were very pleased how all children got involved in all performances. East Maddington PS was delighted to be able to provide our students with an array of cultural music in a fun and engaging way.
